All members of Cowboy Technology Angels are accredited investors. The federal securities laws define the term in Rule 501 of Regulation D, in part, as "a natural person who has individual net worth, or joint net worth with the person’s spouse, that exceeds $1 million at the time of the purchase [of securities], excluding the value of the primary residence of such person;" or "a natural person with income exceeding $200,000 in each of the two most recent years or joint income with a spouse exceeding $300,000 for those years and a reasonable expectation of the same income level in the current year." All members have the chance to interact with entrepreneurs and contribute knowledge and time to analyzing, building and managing the CTA portfolio. The members are responsible for their results. CTA employs no investment advisor.
From time to time Cowboy Technology Angels will host a one-day seminar titled, "Seed Investing as a Team Sport." This seminar serves the purpose of orienting current and prospective CTA members to the process of early stage investing and the systems used by successful angel funds. It also introduces them to the WBTangels team who will facilitate the work of Cowboy Technology Angels. A Reference Manual on Angel investing will be provided to each participant.
Jim Troxel, OSU ’68 serves as President of CTA and heads up WBTangels.
